Where I’m from
Though I was born in India, I have also had the opportunity to live and study in other countries such as Nigeria, Spain, and the USA. Through my travels I have learned several languages (French, Spanish, German, Hindi, and Sindhi) in addition to English. However, due to lack of practice, I remember very little of these other languages but if immersed in them for a few weeks I am sure I can pick them up pretty rapidly.
My Education
I love Math and Science, and studied as much as I could in both these subjects. After completing high school I obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics & Telecommunications in India. This was followed by both a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. The most important thing I learned in school was to “learn how to learn” and so was able to have several different successful careers – Engineer, Real Estate Salesperson, and Teaching. The profession I enjoy the most, and have been doing for the longest time, is Teaching, since 1987!
What I like to do
I love to swim, run, meditate, practice yoga, and play the piano. I have successfully completed two marathons, and two triathlons. For those of you who are wondering, a marathon is a race where you run 26 miles (42 km), and a triathlon is a multiple-stage sports competition in which one participates in three different sports sequentially – swimming (half a mile, in the ocean), biking (22 km), and running (5 km).
